[opensuse-gnome] planned update for gtk2 on 10.3
Hallo. I plan to release two minor fixes for gtk2: - Applied workaround to gtk_init() with incorrect display (#336213, GNOME#463773), - Fixed truncating of some inlined JPEG images (#345835, GNOME#494667). Please test packages: http://pack.suse.cz/sbrabec/bug336213+345835/ The first one fixes problems with Opera and flash: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=336213 The second fixes problems with broken images in some browsers (pan, minimo): https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=345835 -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Unfortunately the problem is not fixed. I've just installed your gtk2 packages and flash-player-9.0.115.0-0.1.i586, and Flash Player does not work with Opera 9.25. -- Igor Jagec

I know. I recognized it by reading the code around the patch again: Please follow https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=336213#c16 -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

How can we apply the patch? Can you write us a little FAQ or something? Cheers! -- Igor Jagec

The patch is NOP (= no operation). Don't apply it, it does not fix anything. This is equal to the patch proposed in the Opera mailing list (return if DISPLAY is not set), but this check is already part of the gtk2 code in 10.3 (just one line above there is the code doing the same). The real fix for 10.3 is not known. You can try to degrade flash to the previous version and let me know, whether this problem disappeared. But even if you will say yes, I don't know the real source of the problem. And because both Opera and Flash have closed source code, it may be impossible to find the fix. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Unfortunately that's the only solution of the problem.

I tried with 9.50 beta on my Factory installation and the new Flash works just fine there, but I don't want to use Opera beta on my 10.3. -- Igor Jagec
