[opensuse-gnome] Help needed: migrate the GNOME wiki pages
Hi all, As you might know, the wiki team has been working on a new wiki: wiki.opensuse.org. It'd be great to have someone taking care of migrating the useful information from http://en.opensuse.org/GNOME and migrate it to the wiki, probably starting at http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GNOME_team (since it's linked from http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:Teams) There's some documentation at http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:Wiki to do this. I'm willing to help tell you which wiki page is worth migrating and which one is not. Any volunteer? Thanks, Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

But please read existing instructions how we organize content in the new wiki. The GNOME, KDE, YaST, etc, organization in old wiki is not what we want to keep. They are stand alone blobs based on static structure of subpages, very hard to browse, search, maintain and, as consequence, keep content up to date. See http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-marketing/2010-06/msg00015.html for more details.
Vincent

I just created http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:GNOME The only section that I had time to fill with something is Navigation, but it is missing related links. There is also http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:KDE as sample how that might be laid out. It is currently fast transfer of few files and needs more thoughts how to name sections, also a lot of links has to be fixed - which is not simple removal of / in the title. The openSUSE:KDE_team page is not a sample how team page should look. It is just fill in for the link on the Portal:KDE page. The article naming applied to our wiki is still under construction and contains only basic instructions, not much details, for instance, about what we did in the old wiki and what has to be avoided. -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I have expanded the Portal now. Please go to http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:GNOME and help me fill in the missing stuff. We are also missing a great marketing page about GNOME on http://wiki.opensuse.org/GNOME One that explains what GNOME is and how it looks/feels like. Think about a glossy page in a product brochure. If you need help with the new wiki check http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:Wiki http://news.opensuse.org/2010/07/08/the-devil-is-in-the-details/ Oh btw the deadline is monday ;) Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE. I have put in some stuff in the page http://wiki.opensuse.org/GNOME . Please do let me know if this looks okay. I could not get the screenshots to appear, but that could be because the sub-page GNOME/Screenshots is not yet validated, right? This page is now ready. Being one of the landing pages for GNOME in openSUSE, it would be nice if someone could review the content I have put in it for correctness and usefulness. The target is a first time user. I also added several pages corresponding to applications included in the GNOME environment in openSUSE, for the sake of completeness. Do let me know what other pages might be added to the GNOME portal to make it useful.
