[opensuse-gnome] GNOME development for openSUSE / Repository information
Hi all, openSUSE 12.3 is 'almost released', Factory unfrozen and we don't want to keep fellow Factory geekos waiting too long: of course, in the last months, we were busy like bees (how busy are geekos?) and we are almost ready with GNOME 3.8 yet (well, waiting for upstream. Release date is scheduled to be March 27 2013). Until then, we will already integrate what we have by now, GNOME 3.7.91, into GNOME:Factory and hopefully also into openSUSE:Factory (hint: I already run it here based on our packages from the staging repository... other than some 'cleanup' to be done here and there, it all works smooth). What does that mean for you, as a GNOME:Factory user? Not much for now: in order to not break existing installations why the various bits and pieces flow into the various devel projects (I created like 230 SRs today, all over the place), I will disable publishing of GNOME:Factory from now until it all settles. This ensures you can keep the repo enabled without issues and nothing shall break: until the day we are confident with what we have will work.. that will be when we open the gates and swamp you with new goodies from GNOME 3.8. Interested what GNOME 3.8 will bring you? Some links for you, to read up: Feature Overview: https://live.gnome.org/ThreePointSeven/Features Release Notes: https://live.gnome.org/ThreePointSeven/ReleaseNotes (All pages are, just as GNOME 3.8, work in progress!) Just want to say: this is exciting! It looks like we'll be able to have GNOME 3.8 quite fast, and on 12.3 too (with the usual GNOME:STABLE repo). Can't wait for it :-) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

Awesome. This sounds great. Now that I've got really stable GNOME 3.6 goodness on shiny new openSUSE 12.3.... GNOME 3.8 comes out... and I'm like "want!" !!!NOTIFICATION FILTERING!!!! @*@* &@^&@ &*^@&*@ &*(^@^@&@&^@&@&@^$ YES!!! <http://worldofgnome.org/gnome-3-8-features-notification-filtering/> Can I make all those useless CUPS/Printing notifications go away??? Dunno, but maybe. Can I get chat notifications that actually *NOTIFY* [ like "HEY, YOU STUPID PUTZ LOOK AT THIS *@&*@ WINDOW!" - because that is what I want ]. I mean, if I didn't want to know about chat conversations I'd change my XMPP status! With 3.6.x it is way to easy for them to sneak in - especially if you have a huge screen. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org
