[opensuse-gnome] GNOME 3.12 and openSUSE 13.1
Hello, As you probably know, GNOME 3.12 is out. What is the plan for openSUSE? I guess extra repository that will add GNOME 3.12. Any instructions? Any ideas when we'll have it? ...there isn't even a repo with GNOME 3.10 for OSS yet, so... Cheers MH -- gpg key fingerprint: 5F64 4C92 9B77 DE37 D184 C5F9 B013 44E7 27BD 763C -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

Um, openSUSE 13.1's OSS repos includes GNOME 3.10 so.... :-p If people want it for other versions and are willing to step up to package, test and maintain it, I'm sure we can make it happen, but typically the GNOME team only provide new 'STABLE' repos for 'intermediate' releases when GNOME releases don't occur soon before an openSUSE release (as is the case with GNOME 3.12, which we're working on, see below)

Hi Stathis, GNOME 3.12 is currently being prepared and tested. I believe the best repository to test is http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dimstar:/broken/openSUSE_13.... and it might be a good idea to pop in to #opensuse-gnome IRC to keep the feedback loop short so we can get stuff fixed quicker However, DimStar did just mention that there is a rather large amount of stuff in the OBS queue, so that might make things a little slower, I'm hoping DimStar or Zaitor will be able to add some more useful information to this thread as they've been vastly more involved than I :) Hope this helps - Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

you mean, like, for KDE :) which just proves my point that KDE is way "stronger" in openSUSE than GNOME. cheers MH -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

I'll probably shouldn't reply to this as I typically avoid responding to very obvious trolling, but your point was, and I quote "there isn't even a repo with GNOME 3.10 for OSS" And I pointed out that there is, explained the extent of the GNOME Teams plans, and invited you to be involved in any effort to do more than we currently do There's no need to compare KDE vs GNOME, not only are they two very different software stacks with very different requirements, but we're all one community trying to make openSUSE better. I would appreciate it if you adjusted your attitude and perhaps took up the opportunity to improve things, rather than casting unwarranted aspersions Regards, Richard Brown openSUSE Board -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

The repository is now available. sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/STABLE:/3.12/openSUSE_13.1/ GNOME312 sudo zypper ref sudo zypper dist-upgrade --from GNOME312 I've been running 3.12 for over a week now. So far it is working perfectly - no noticeable bugs. Upgrade was painless, as usual. Excellent work guys. Being on the latest version of Evolution is a real treat. -- Adam Tauno Williams <mailto:awilliam@whitemice.org> GPG D95ED383 Systems Administrator, Python Developer, LPI / NCLA -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org
Looks tempting, but i do have a question. Do i gain anything significant by upgrading? Or are there only minor changes? Regards, Quoting Adam Tauno Williams <awilliam@whitemice.org>:
