I simply cannot install vlc in 11.4 with gnome - but it installs, and behaves, perfectly in 11.4 with KDE.
I have used the "1-click install" in Packman and also downloaded vlc from videolan - and both are supposed to install in oS 11.4.
However, when installing the rpm from videolan I get the error message:
nothing provides libvlccore.so.4 needed by vlc-1.1.9-1.pm.2.4.i586 You're not installing the version from videolan (mind the .pm in the release!)
The the version from VideoLAN and be happy user of it.

<Sob :'( > Why didn't you tell me all this before I spent hours tearing my hair out (what's left of it, that is) trying to get vlc to work under gnome? :-) Many Thanks for this. vlc now working :-) .
