Dominique, how does this relate to GNOME:Stable?
Good question Andreas,
Short answer: no change to what we have so far.
Long answer:
GNOME:STABLE:* are 'best effort' repositories provided for 'the latest version of GNOME on top of the latest release of openSUSE as long as resource and technicalities allows for it'
So currently, that means GNOME 3.12 is available in there for openSUSE 13.1, which was shipped with GNOME 3.10.
In September/October, GNOME 3.14 will be released, BUT the 'resource' factor will, with a high probability, NOT allow to port this to openSUSE 13.1, as we will be busy ensuring this to properly find its way into Factory for the 13.2 split. So for GNOME 3.14, the openSUSE Version to be used will be openSUSE 13.2.
So, for Tumbleweed, that means I will not be able to offer GNOME 3.14? What in 13.2 do you "need" that keeps this from being backported to 13.1? Any specific packages that you know of?
Does it timewise make sense for the integration effort to get this to work in Tumbleweed (on top of 13.1)? We're talking about a 2 month overlap here, by when you normally would empty out TW and rebase it on top of 13.2, which supposedly brings GNOME 3.14.
So no one using Tumbleweed can use GNOME 3.14 for 2 months? Why restrict that? What happens if 13.2 is delayed?
I can try to enable a build of current GNOME:Next over Tumbleweed to get a feel for what might be missing. Over 'pure' 13.1 I am sure that the Wayland stack is too (but can be disabled of course).
As you say it's only for 13.2/Factory now, I was guessing that you might know of any potential issues that are there. If not, I'll be glad to test this out myself. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org
