I just added Factory in response to your post on 18 August. I've been considering the move for a while.
Can you paste your list of repositories (zypper lr -u -p) This should give an insight on how the setup might look like.

Ok, your repository list does not match: openSUSE 11.4 as base, with GNOME:Factory on top of that. The gconf downgrade should no longer be needed: GNOME:Factory built and published (with the exception of two packages, which are not of high importance). The libxml failure for example is a result of that: G:F Does not contain all the libraries you'd need on top of 11.4, as the base system is 'outdated' compared to what gnome 3.1.5 is built against. There are very likely more packages that did not update to 3.1.x in your situation then. I'd suggest you to either: a) Revert back to openSUSE 11.4 + GNOME 3 (remove the gnome:factory repos) then "zypper dup" to 'revert' down to gnome 3.0.2 b) Remove the openSUSE 11.4 based repository and switch to Factory. Beware though: Factory is development repositories. At any moment they may or may not work successfully. Of course we strive to keep disruption minimal, but without building packages and publishing them we can't test them neither. Always be conscious about updates you apply (also valid on stable version of course). Both those solution are supposedly resolving all your currently perceived issues.
