[New: openFATE 315124] Single Offline Installer
Feature added by: Ade Malsasa Akbar (Malsasa) Feature #315124, revision 1 Title: Single Offline Installer openSUSE Infrastructure: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Ade Malsasa Akbar (malsasa) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: I see http://software.opensuse.org was great and useful for searching software for openSUSE. But, I think something is missing. We need more than just 1 Click Install system. I think it is better if when I search for a package say Gedit: - immediately available gedit package with all dependencies download links - when I click download, all dependencies automatically bundled on ZIP and I just download the ZIP then rpm -ivh on my openSUSE OR - when I click download, all dependencies also downloaded automatically following the gedit package, so I can save all in one folder - all of those I can do in other machine connected to the internet. The absolute inspiration for this idea is apt-web created by Indonesian guy Fajran Iman Rusadi (http://repo.ugm.ac.id/apt-web). He created apt-web for Indonesian people who don't have any internet on their machine, but Indonesians can go to internet cafe. Seriously apt-web is helpful for Indonesian Ubuntu users (thousands of people) because the lack and too expensive internet in Indonesia. Nah, how if openSUSE Software Download has same feature even better? The 1 Click Install System is not suitable for most users who don't have any internet on their computer. I think it is better with this system, to solve dependency of openSUSE to the internet. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: Many users don't have internet directly on their computers. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/315124
