Feature changed by: Alexander Orlovskyy (aorlovskyy) Feature #308314, revision 12 Title: better wine integration openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Sharque uddin Ahmed Farooqui (safknw) Description: There are times we need to use windows applications. Wine applications does not integrate well with with rest of desktop. There is no menu entry for wine settings. Also there should be menu for reboot wine. Proper icons for win apps. better desktop shortcuts creation for kde and gnome. Menu for wine notepad, command prompt and other provided utilities by wine. Also integration with mono for running .Net application ( because some win .net apps uses win librearies.) I use wine for Heidisql (Mysql admin tool) and some time for games. Discussion: #1: Klaas Freitag (kfreitag) (2009-11-07 16:46:37) I agree that wine couldn't be integrated well enough, however I see program icons of wine programs in the KDE start menu. exe programs are automatically started in wine when clicking on them. But apart from that, what other integrations would you like to see? #2: Mindaugas Baranauskas (embar-) (2009-11-23 04:04:55) First, winecfg in Wine menu :) Assign to open exe with wine (if it is not already realised) #3: Nassim Salem (nsalem) (2009-12-03 06:56:49) Also wine is not installed by default. A new linux user may want to run a Windows exe. Maybe opensuse can detect that a user is trying a run a Windows exe and prompt the user to install wine along with a brief description of what wine is and will do. #4: Jimmy Berry (boombatower) (2010-01-03 04:33:55) Shouldn't these be filed with Wine project since it already creates menu items and such? Simply add one for config? + #5: Alexander Orlovskyy (aorlovskyy) (2010-06-01 17:50:01) + Great idea! + -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/308314
