Feature changed by: Jakub Rusinek (liviopl) Feature #306502, revision 9 Title: Disable automount on LiveCDs openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Michael Löffler (michl19) reject date: 2009-08-11 15:38:14 reject reason: too late for 11.2, moved to 11.3 Priority Requester: Important openSUSE-11.3: Evaluation Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Jakub Rusinek (liviopl) Description: When repartitioning HDD, automount can hurt. The same when installing system. At least for partitioners and installers "lifetime", automount should be disabled. Discussion: #1: Michael Löffler (michl19) (2009-08-11 15:39:06) Christoph, does this address a real issue? #2: Robert Davies (robopensuse) (2009-11-30 22:38:27) I find automount of Live CDs often useful, and it is optional on KDE4 at least, with possibility to "Do Nothing" present. If the Live CD is running currently, then /etc/mtab is in memory not on hard disk, so I don't see the harm in it, nor from an NFS client automount possibilities. Does the requester mean something like USB storage device being inserted can change Device names in some way that can confuse an installation? + #3: Jakub Rusinek (liviopl) (2010-04-14 23:40:04) (reply to #2) + I mean automounting HDD partitions is making partitioning not easy. + As I wanted to repartition the HDD, GNOME was mounting them everytime I + wanted to edit them. + That's why I'd prefer automount disabled. + On KDE LiveCD the problem doesn't exist in default configuration. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306502
