The delta iso's are iso files that contain deltas for each file on the cd. A delta is the equivalent of a diff or patch file except they are in a human-unreadable binary format that is much smaller than a pach or diff file. Micah BTW. I have a Windows applydeltaiso.exe I made with cygwin. Do you guys want this?

Yes, please. Just put it somewhere and link to it. If you can't host it, I can place it somewhere. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Right now, I can't get it to apply the beta5->6 delta. I am working on it and will have it fixed soon! Micah

*****************snip********************* OK, i think. should i download and run the beta6.delta.iso against the beta6 cd?

No. What you do is if you have the delta5 iso's, you do: applydeltaiso <oldiso> <deltaiso> <newiso> or applydeltaiso the_ones_you_have delta_iso the_one_you_want_to_create or applydeltaiso beta5_cd1.iso beta6_delta_cd1.iso beta6_cd1.iso houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. ok houghi. if i dont have the beta5 cd's then i could not use the beta6
delta, iso's. so if Suse comes out
with a beta7 or releases 10.1, i could download the delta.iso's instead of the "whole cd set", then apply those to delta.iso's to my beta6 iso's. does that sound right? Peace...................ed

Yes, correct. The file name tells you all, e.g.: SUSE-Linux-10.1-beta5_beta6-i386-CD1.delta.iso will create the beta6 CD1 out of beta5 CD1. Likewise: SUSE-Linux-10.1-cat_dog-i386-CDx.delta.iso will create the dog CDx out of the cat CDx I hope the scheme is clear now. FMF

With this explanation, although correct you confuse by altering the order of beta5 and beta6. Perhaps a better explanation would be: SUSE-Linux-10.1-beta5_beta6-i386-CD1.delta.iso That will help you change the beta5 to beta6. Again: you explanation is not wrong. It just seems more logical to explain it in an other way. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Sie ist das Kostbarste, was wir haben, denn es ist unwiederbringliche Lebenszeit. Talking about names: As the delta most likely is no "ISO", the suffix shoulde be ".delta" (maybe), and not ".iso". So I'd suggest: Use the name of the base, and then append "-`newversion`.delta". Regards, Ulrich
That will help you change the beta5 to beta6.
