Fwd: where are the ".repo" files for adding TW packages?
I think this got buried in the other thread...
Well the supported way to update a system is `zypper dup` we will make> sure that works there should rarely be a need for an openSUSE user to
call rpm directly, especially when installing / removing / upgrading packages.
---- Um, where are the .repo files I need to add to zypper for it to read the current dist? I've been using the repo/repodata/repomd.xml files for my own local cache and building a repository with that locally, but without downloading that first, zypper seems unhappy: Error building the cache: [TW-OSS|http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss] Valid metadata not found at specified URL Warning: Skipping repository 'TW-OSS' because of the above error. Tried repo/repodata (included --check in the zypper command and it *claimed* it was successfully added: sudo zypper ar --check http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss TW-OSS Adding repository 'TW-OSS' ...............................................[done] Repository 'TW-OSS' successfully added Enabled : Yes Autorefresh : No GPG check : Yes URI : http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss
Yep, just hit this non-retrieval of "packman repository" myself this morning. Tried it a couple of times to "zypper ref" but, it errors out.

At the moment http://packman.inode.at/ seems to refuse connections (I'm getting a 403 Forbidden there). But the other mirrors are fine. See http://packman.links2linux.org/mirrors for a complete list. Other mirrors seem to be fine.

To get a 403, you need a connection ;-)
Apparently YaST2 didn't fix the problem with packman.inode??? Now finding problems with 39 packages, down from 41 . . . Looks like it will go through all 39 packages:
roblem: problem with installed package ffmpeg-4-4.3.1-11.2.x86_64 Solution 1: install ffmpeg-4-4.3.1-8.1.x86_64 (with vendor change) http://packman.links2linux.de --> openSUSE Solution 2: keep obsolete ffmpeg-4-4.3.1-11.2.x86_64 Choose from above solutions by number or skip, retry or cancel [1/2/s/r/c/d/?] (c):
# cat /etc/zypp/repos.d/packman.repo [packman] enabled=1 autorefresh=1 baseurl=https://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/ priority=90 Regards Sid. On 01/03/2021 18:37, Rhaytana wrote:

I'll change to another packman mirror if inode.at isn't live when I want to *zypper dup* to a new TW snapshot.

Followed this advice on the main forum to change my Packman mirror, seems to be working . . . . "Sunday February 28th 2021 - Update issue with packman inode mirror There are issues with the inode mirror, please configure an alternative mirror. See http://packman.links2linux.org/mirrors "
zypper found "41 packages" with "personal problems" . . . so I went to YaST2 and "software management" and selected, "update if newer packages are available" . . . found 279 packages, upgraded the kernel . . . went through without having to pick "c" "a" or "r" on a series of packages. About to restart and then see if zypper has come to its senses or not.
