[opensuse-factory] where is the factory non-oss repo?
Well, where is it? I managed to find the new path to the factory repo, but all I see so far are folders for "oss" and "src". It wouldn't bother me so much but I have several acrobat forms to check and fill out, and apparently only Adobe's Acrobat Reader can be used for that. Thanks! -- Gruß Andreas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Jakub, Live CD has the same structure as installed system, so boot computer with Live CD and look for firmware in /lib/firmware/ directory . If your hardware is working with that one it should work with the same kernel in installed system. In case there is nothing, install it using 11.0 non-oss repository. While installed stuff will disappear when you turn computer off, it will at least tell you does your hardware work with openSUSE provided drivers and firmware. BTW, 11.0 has nothing to do with a Factory for a quite some time. If you have more questions please use opensuse@opensuse.org mail list for 11.0 and earlier versions. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, Marcus. I did the "zypper in" and it actually worked, kind of. After pulling in the necessary dependencies, and before installing acroread, zyper have me this error message: Paket acroread-8.1.2-34.1.i586 abrufen (3/3), 0 B (0 B installiert) Pfad '/var/cache/zypper/RPMS' auf Medium 'dir:///var/cache/zypper/RPMS' ist keine Datei. Maybe a permission problem because I started zypper with sudo instead of a 'real' switch to root? Anyway, I then did a simple rpm -ivh acroread-8.1.2-34.1.i586.rpm and Acrobat Reader is now installed. But isn't it great that an open source tool like okular can now handle acrobat forms as well? Check the form carefully, comparing the same form displayed with acrobat. I found that evince also works with forms, but some things are displayed diferently enough for the form to at least be questioned at the receiving end. In fact, the same form I tested, that failed with evince, also fails with okular, in worse manner. It is useless for me, at least in 11.0, can't say with factory yet. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Thanks for the warning. Before I print & send the forms off, I will cross-check them with Acrobat Reader. And check them manually for any errors. There is a cute thing with Okular: it saves form data somewhere: when I load the form again, it is filled already. The data is not saved with the pdf, must be somewhere else, but I have no idea where. I fact, I don't know how to clear the form to fill another one. Weird. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I found where the data is saved. Check $HOME/.kde4/share/apps/okular/docdata for xml files relating to the pdf's you filled out. It is a somewhat peculiar way to deal with the forms. Well... The data sometimes can be sensitive, so that okular saves it without notice could even be dangerous. I'd rather prefer to be asked where and whether to save form data. I'm not sure I like this feature. It can be useful, but also dangerous. I haven't even seen a button or menu entry to clear all data: suppose I have to fill a bunch of forms and leave data of one form in the next inadvertently. If the form is of any consequence, results could cause a lot of damage. Firefox/mozilla does this trick of remembering forms, but by default fields are empty. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
