[opensuse-factory] java troubles

I was hoping the update to alpha3 would improve my java problems... Now Eclipse just crashes after few minutes of use... any clues? This happens with 3 different JDKs so it is very unlikely to depend on the JDK Erik --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

The IBM JDK seems to work properly so far with Eclipse... I haven't tried my other apps so far to know if my java/swing troubles are solved. With the BEA and the Sun JDK there is this odd error message before it crashes about /proc/stat "Resource temporary available"... let me bet this has to do with the "rc" version of the kernel Erik.

Hi,
On 10.3 you have to deinstall xulrunner otherwise it willl crash on every embedded help for example moving the cursor over the Javadoc help or clicking help->about. Another option is to do export MALLOC_CHECK_=1 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=293439 https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=209428 There are crashes reported because of missing -vms and -vmx options to the JVM. For me it was a problem when they were there, because I had to little RAM, but without them the JVM sometimes gets out of memory. You may solve this by editing /etc/eclipse.conf. But be aware you have to reedit it after every factory update. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=353522 The crashing problem from xulrunner is fixed in the nightly builds of eclipse since March ~7th. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=209428#c29 Sadly the eclipse packages for factory do not get updated. The state of eclipse is quiet sad but hopefully the above will help you Looking at http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/3130 makes it even worse. Most of the above findings have been made by Casual J. Programmer thanks alot for that! greetings Felix Möller --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Try NetBeans, runs great on openSUSE.
