Thanks Carlos. I re-downloaded the ISO directly and the checksum agrees; I have originally downloaded from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.2/iso/ which does not have the metalink (only the torrent; not sure why). And thanks also for the pointer that rerunning ariaa2c with the metalink would have corrected the ISO.
Gosh.
Just go to the opensuse page, https://www.opensuse.org/. Click on "install leap". It takes you to the main download page:> ------------------------------------------**********
Don't you see the blue Metalink word in there?
Why don't you simply click there?

-----Ursprüngliche Nachricht Ende----- Easy, I claim he did. He was probably using Firefox and the "Downthemall" plugin. If you do that, the metalink will come dome as a chunk but it is plain wrong because it will be the .torrent version of the file. This problem is quite old and always happens with opensuse. He could: use the "use old metalink" stile of down them all Or he can download by using the checksum function manually right away. Or he could change download manager? In all cases I would not be surprised if the problem was as described. Cheers.

Then right click on the metalink, select "copy link location". Go to a terminal, type «aria2c "» then select paste, then the clossing «"». This is what I always do, I don't have that plugin in Linux. Finally, report the bug in the page. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
