For anyone who's new to openQA, here are my suggested instructions on how to poke around How To: Get the ISO used in the Tests Step 1. Click on one of the Red or Green dots that represent a finished test Step 2. You're at the 'Test Results' page, this is where you can see the results of this openQA test. By default you're taken to the 'Default' tab, which shows you each test module and all the screenshots taken during that test Step 3. Click the 'Logs & Assets' tab. This is where openQA keeps its logs for that test, as well as a Video recording, and it's 'Assets' (aka ISO's and HDD Disk Images) Step 4. Click on the ISO you want to download, in this case openSUSE-42.1-DVD-x86_64-Build0002-Media.iso Step 5. Congratulations, you now have the same ISO that openQA is using for testing openSUSE Leap 42.1 How To: See tests that are running Step 1. Click on any Yellow dots, these are the tests that are running Step 2. Congratulations, you're now able to see the test running in openQA in Real Time How To: Use openQA to find and file bugs Step 1. Click on one of the Red or Green dots that represent a finished test Step 2. You're at the 'Test Results' page, this is where you can see the results of this openQA test. By default you're taken to the 'Default' tab, which shows you each test module and all the screenshots taken during that test Step 3. Look at the screenshots, do they all make sense to you? Pay attention especially to any screenshots in rows that are marked Red/Failed..they're probably bad and broken. Don't always assume the Green ones are perfect, sometimes we make mistakes with our automated tests :) Step 4. File bugs accordingly, good bug reports should always have logs attached, luckily openQA includes many logs in it's "Logs & Assets" Tab Step 4a. Just skip step 4 and fix the problems right away ...which reminds me..Coolo, what's the submission procedure for Leap 42.1? :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Do you have a list which versions of packages there is in this build? On 07/14/2015 11:12 PM, Richard Brown wrote:

Looks like packages like Thuderbird are being pulled from tumbleweed, so it is no surprise the dependencies aren't available in many cases: Look at this list of repos used in Leap's openQA: https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/71764/modules/zypper_in/steps/3 But tumbleweed is only building against tumbleweed itself: https://build.opensuse.org/project/repositories/openSUSE:Tumbleweed The best solution I can think of: - Issue a SR for Thunderbird from Tumbleweed to Leap:42 so it gets built against the right dependencies Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Hello! First of all, congratulations for this milestone, I just can't wait to test it! I read sometime ago a discussion about the default Kernel in Leap 42.1 and I saw some suggestions about 4.1 LTS. However, this Leap built is showing 3.12.43-4. Did I miss something? Was the default kernel version of Leap already defined or is it just a temporary version? Ronan, This is the very first build/boot up of Leap with sources coming straight from SLES 12 for everything. I don't think a single SR has even been pushed to it yet. ie. the request list is empty: https://build.opensuse.org/project/requests/openSUSE:42 The kernel team has agreed conceptually with 4.1 LTS being the kernel for Leap 42.1, but I think you're premature to expect anything except pure SLES 12 functionality at this point. The shockingly positive thing is a lot of Tumbleweed RPMs are being pulled in directly to Leap:42.1 and apparently running to some extent. I'm very surprised at how much is working, not by how little is working. A fair question, but I have no answer to that - we still don't even have a build starting GNOME. IMHO: Well, to get the full setup for Leap 42, including QA similar to TW, I would put down about a month minimum, add to that another two weeks to get in a fresh LTS Kernel (4.1.x), so, about 6 - 8 weeks later than your projected schedule at minimum. Some errors of aplay test seems triggered by the difference of ncurses between SLE12 and Tumbleweed. For example, if I install 42 and try to upgrade alsa-utils.rpm from repo-oss, it gives the same error. (I tried to install 42 even on a bare metal! :) This made me wonder whether the repo setup (using Tumbleweed as an update) is correct. Is it? In anyway, all ALSA-related packages I've been maintaining (alsa, alsa-utils, alsa-firmware, alsa-plugins, alsa-tools) can be taken from Tumbleweed safely. They must be backward compatible. About the sound related stuff, also pulseaudio is a thing that can be taken from FACTORY fairly safely. The recent PA package just follows the upstream development, and the upstream became much saner than in the past a few years ago. Hi,
I think TW repos are there 'by default' for now but should not actually be used.
Repos for 42.1 should be in the works.
For now testing should focus only on what's available in the disk image.

Yes, but the strange thing is the failure of aplay seen in openQA. The symptom looks like the mixture of the new alsa-utils and the old libncurses. It means that openQA tries to install a Tumbleweed version of alsa-utils package. So the testing itself seems invalid as long as Tumbleweed is registered as the online update repo. Takashi

Agreed, any test that is installing additional packages (which therefore currently pulls through from Tumbleweed) are invalid Luckily, lots of the tests do not do that, but that's the cause for many of the failures we're seeing there Coolo is working on setting up repositories for Leap 42.1. Once they exist, a new build will be produced which will use them. If its any good (in the all-seeing eyes of openQA), that new build will probably be called 'Milestone 1' and will be the first useful build where human testing is expected to be worthwhile ;) Here's hoping.. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
