I have curious functionning of zen updater. I made the update when the patche was available recently, once with YOU them with zen. From this time on (a week or so), the zen updater icon kept blue. receiving the first mail of this thread I began experiment. YOU had a lot of updates I could make. Zen updater, when looking at the config, had only one repository configured, obviously not an update one (so didn't follow YOU). I closed it, then restarted it. I must state that my computer is shut down every nigth, so this was not the first zen-updater restart. I got a blue icon, but _no_ repository configured (so the one I had gone away I don't know how) but this time, the configure menu lauched a "novell registering" menu entry. I validated this one and got server error message like this one: ERREUR : Impossible d'ajouter 'http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse/update/10.1' Failed to parse XML metadata: Unknown failure (tested several times, same for any server) after that the server was added to the configure menu, but set inactive, with no catalog (but this is fresh, may be a catalog download in the background -seems so, I can't swith out zen-updater jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory-help@opensuse.org
Vahis, yes, serval times. I made a small log of it, rug won't sub to it or install anything from the repos, see here http://kronoz.linuxlabs.co.uk/ruglog.txt jdd, that is very similar to what happens in my case, i get the same 'Failed to parse XML metadata: Unknown Failure message' when I try to do `rug ref` On 6/16/06, jdd <jdd@dodin.org> wrote:

also nothing can be installed through yast2 software management as it says, 'Package not found on medium, please check server is accessable' On 6/16/06, Kronoz <bluehawk.uk@googlemail.com> wrote:

Can you please try to duplicate and then make available the: /var/log/zmd-* /var/lib/zmd/zmd.db TIA, Mauro -- Mauro Parra www.mechulk.com

bug #186009 I filled a bugzilla report for convenience. yast and zen-updater registration problem summary: when no updates are available, zen(updater registration via yast don't works. What I did: * delete any zen-updater config service * stop zen-updater * move zmd.db out of the way (renamed) * tar zmd logs and delete them * tar Yast logs and delete them so very fresh logs... in attachment * start "zen-updater &" from an xterm * go to config, add. * see proposed "novell register", accept this starts yast, registration. * accept default, looks for server, receive: error: ERREUR : Impossible d'ajouter 'http://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/suse/update/10.1' Failed to parse XML metadata: Unknown failure stop Yast, return to zen-updater tar zen and yast logs. /var/lib/zmd.db is created as a zero length file (so no copy given here) logs as bugzilla attachement so visibly the registration fails when no update is available jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory-help@opensuse.org
Finally, I managed to register and so insert a working update repository in zen-updater I wonder if the problem was not that last time I did I already made the update with YOU _before_ configuring zen, and so there where no update available at the moment. Tonight there where 4. jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/galerie_photo_web/expo/index.html http://lucien.dodin.net http://fr.susewiki.org/index.php?title=Gérer_ses_photos --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory-help@opensuse.org

Are you sure the updates don't appear after a longer wait? Like, as I installed the autoyast tools using the option in makesusedvd to fetch and install it, it got an update quite some time later, the globe went orange maybe an hour after the installation.
- there still are dependency problems. I can only install updates, if I choose Types: Patch
This I haven't seen as such.
Anybody else having similar problems?

I also have issues with the zen-updater such as only making the suse oss repository active and leaving all the others as inactive and not on the catalogue tab, same in `rug sl` On 6/16/06, Vahis <waxborg@gmail.com> wrote:
