[opensuse-factory] drop of ldapsmb for post openSUSE 12.3
Hi, we like to drop ldapsmb from any openSUSE product newer than 12.3. If you still use it and believe it still has any value and not only defects it's up to you to speak up now. Else we'll remove it from the Samba spec file for all post-12.3 in a week from now. Given that samba-4 heavily makes use of ldap for a back end and to support it's active directory features, what ldap-smb support will fill any gaps (if any) of it's being retired? I.e. w/samba4 I think it is more likely you will see more people using ldap backends due to the large extent they are used with samba-4. Is there a good replacement for that (not saying it was good, I don't know... but we should be sure there is a good ldap-cifs replacement? Has that been thought through yet? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

No. And to be more clear on ldapsmb it had been of use five or eight years back. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
