[opensuse-factory] PS/2 keyboard does not work while install suse11.2 RC1
Hello everyone, i tried to make the 11.2 RC1build 331 install, but the keyboard (PS/2) does not work in the graphic installation environment. (using german layout). I tried another keyboard (also PS/2) without success. The keyboard which i use works well in Suse 11.0 and 11.1. Try the option "secure kernel" helps and keyboard works in textmode. Does anyone know whats wrong? Thanks and regards, Matthias -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Odd, I've used Netinstall & Live CD for 11.2-RC1 on 32bit system with PS/2 UK keyboard attached via KVM without noticing anything. I would set the keyboard option up via the function keys, on initial booting from CD where you get the boot from hard disk & install options. Is that what you did? Hi Rob,
Yes i tried this too. The keyboard still does not react in graphical installation mode. Also the Strg+Alt+Del does not work, i can not switch on caps lock or "Num" mode. Keyboard is dead. replug the keyboard has no effect. With new motherboard it works with the same keyboard... The failure is not the keyboard. I also tried the gparted live CD (with old motherboard), here the keyboard does also not work. Is it possible, that this is generally (newer kernel?) problem? As i said, with Suse 11.0 and 11.1 therer was no problem. regards, Matthias -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Just FYI PS/2 sockets are not hotplug, good KVMs would not just be simple switches to avoid burning out the ports.
Looks like you might best consider a detailed bug report on that Mobo which has the issue. My aim responding, was just so you got some feedback that at least some configurations work normally. Only idea I have at moment, is if it appears to be that Mobo + Keyboard + Kernel, is if you have BIOS settings which are different, perhaps relating to USB keyboard options which are causing PS/2 to no longer be recognised, by some changed kernel code. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
