[opensuse-factory] VLC does not start up in KDE4.13.3

Question: Do you have any QT 5.x packages installed? Most likely that this is the source of your troubles. QT4 and QT5 in parallel is NOT fully save. Some 'plugins' and programs are not save to use in dual QT (4+5) installations, due to lax linking e.g. libQtGui.so instead of libQtGui.so.4 . There was a case about a Imageviewer plugin in the last 4 weeks where the plugin was linked against QT5 while the Imageviewer itself was using QT4. - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

- Yamaban. I'll have to get to you all about this. Is there a faster way of check using konsole?

"rpm -qa |grep -i qt5" should give you some answers about qt, added to: "zypper se -s vlc" that should answer if there is a repo mixup about the vlc stuff. - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

You don't possibly have both videolan and packman providing vlc? Whew! Everything is fixed. I had mistakenly added too many repos during my initial installation. Before running my updates first -I updated to KDE4.13.3 first. Now that I have reinstalled in the correct order everything is running a-okay. Thank you for your help. Cheers!
