I don't care how. I just want to be able to find out what mode is operational on a vtty in use. That's all I ever used fbset for. How is that information obtained while running KMS kernels? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." What is replacement user level tool for KMS? What is replacement user level tool for users who cannot use KMS? I perfectly understand removing it from installation media. Can someone please answer these questions? It is kind of rude to drop a tool without offering a replacement. In the meanwhile I use the fbset implementation from busybox. -- Thanks, //richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

That you will have to ask coolo. This is just the log message he left for the deletion. One way to set resolution is specifying video=640x400 (or whatever you like) at the kernel command line. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, they are not based on a KMS/DRM FB yet. (And who knows if that will ever be.) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Obsoleted by KMS...
KMS does not apply to all video hardware and software configurations in use.

Non KMS drivers are going to disappear...Fedora already dropped them.. I do not know what the SUSE X team wants to do though... and more importantly.. virtual consoles and therefore whatever configuration you desire to apply, will be driven by systemd-consoled (minimal) and/or its fully featured brother called kmscon. -- Cristian "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I don't see any mention of screen "resolution" in kmscon. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I am running Tumbleweed which is reporting 13.1 and have fbset still installed. It reports from 12.3, but works fine.
