I don't care how. I just want to be able to find out what mode is operational on a vtty in use. That's all I ever used fbset for. That you will have to ask coolo. This is just the log message he left for the deletion. One way to set resolution is specifying video=640x400 (or whatever you like) at the kernel command line.

Doesn't do anything with my mga and sis gfxchip installations. They do still obey vga=.

So what's the replacement? How does one find out a current tty geo configuration in 13.1 or 13.2? Can the fbset rpm from 12.3 or some optional repo be installed?

I am running Tumbleweed which is reporting 13.1 and have fbset still installed. It reports from 12.3, but works fine.
