[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed does not halt

HI! On one laptop (of half a dozen) I've configured with Tumbleweed the system is hanging during shutdown, some process is massively accessing the hard-disk. Any hint where to search for this issue? Ciao, Michael.

worth checking core dumps. I had to disable core dumping completely over a month ago. On 26 November 2016 at 20:37, Michael Ströder <michael@stroeder.com> wrote:

How did you disable core dumps? What I've found with a quick search: edit /etc/security/limits.conf set ulimit fs.suid_dumpable = 0 in /etc/sysctl.conf Storage=none in /etc/systemd/coredump.conf Ciao, Michael.

from my not so organised notes: /var/lib/systemd/coredump/ [i think this is where they get dumped so check here first] https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Core_dump i notice the arch page gives several methods, i assume only I modified /etc/systemd/coredump.conf.d/custom.conf from section "using systemd" I now note this problem was actually 3 months ago, so there is a chance this should have already been solved. (but still a strong suspect for heavy disk access on shutdown). I simply disabled since shutdown debugging is difficult and investigations pointed at a know systemd issue likely to be resolved in time. The misbehaving laptop is not mine. So it will take a couple of days until I get access to it again. Ciao, Michael.

FYI, tidying my notes i found i also set "export KDE_DEBUG=1" in .bashrc to disable DrConky, cannot remember now if this was first attempt or is required. On 29 November 2016 at 23:07, Michael Ströder <michael@stroeder.com> wrote:

Thanks for your additional information. I'll check but AFAIK there's not even KDE installed. XFCE is used instead. Ciao, Michael.
