worth checking core dumps. I had to disable core dumping completely over a month ago.
How did you disable core dumps?
What I've found with a quick search:
edit /etc/security/limits.conf
set ulimit
fs.suid_dumpable = 0 in /etc/sysctl.conf
Storage=none in /etc/systemd/coredump.conf
Ciao, Michael.
from my not so organised notes: /var/lib/systemd/coredump/ [i think this is where they get dumped so check here first] https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Core_dump i notice the arch page gives several methods, i assume only I modified /etc/systemd/coredump.conf.d/custom.conf from section "using systemd" I now note this problem was actually 3 months ago, so there is a chance this should have already been solved. (but still a strong suspect for heavy disk access on shutdown). I simply disabled since shutdown debugging is difficult and investigations pointed at a know systemd issue likely to be resolved in time.
