[opensuse-factory] changing langage dl lot of packages
Hello, I don't find any bugzilla entry on this subject, so I wonder if it's a bug or a feature :-(. This seems to be the same for 11.2 and 11.3 (at least very last lxde live cd, with 11.3 on the start) It's mostly the case with live cd's. live cd's don't have all langages. Specifically for my case, no french except the install part itself. When selecting french from the start (boot screen), one end up with french in YaST config, but no french package, and specially no french keyboard. 1) when going to YaST/system/langage, French is selected and there is no way to select "french keyboard" (choices are greyed). One have to select first any other (english us, for example), install then back to french Main point for this post: 2) After any language change, YaST download and install *a lot* of packages!! looks like it reinstall all the distro. Takes ages on low end computer. Is this normal? thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-support-the-Linux-Documentation-Project/3720... http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-fan-page-of-Claire-Dodin/106485119372062?v... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I don't have much experience with live cd's. There is limited space, but the keyboard should work; if not, that's a bug, IMO.

Some large applications need lot of files to change language. Openoffice, for instance, but also kde, gnome.... - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. LiveCDs have English, German and Russian. But some parts are still available in other languages (like french) and keyboard works there. Can you list which packages? We have bundles, to limit the number of packages to download, so it should normally be okay. dear Vincent, It was extremely difficult to answer your question :-( I mail this privately because the attachement lxde cd is partly broken, I tried to reinstall it to be able to make the langage change, but not all works, so having the logs was hard. I moved the YaST log folder after install and before changing langage from us to fr, so to have all fresh logs of the language install. I use virtualbox, so I had to send the logs to a remote server with scp and then to my disk :-)) Notice that YaST freezes, so I had to break and I don't know if all the work is done - I had french keyboard in the terminal YaST was run from hope it will be of some use to you :-) It's not the first time I have langage problems with live cd, usually they don't load french and if somebody ask for french from the start menu, the result is unpredicable jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-support-the-Linux-Documentation-Project/3720... http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-fan-page-of-Claire-Dodin/106485119372062?v...
