[opensuse-factory] should zypper dup inside a VMware appliance work yet?
I just tried to upgrade a VMware instance from 12.3 to 13.1 and I'm getting a complaint about a vmware client incompatibility. I only have 13.1 and 13.1 updates enabled as a repo. Zypper dup should work as long as the VM has network access. You do need the oss and non-oss repos enabled as that is where most of the new material will reside. I just successfully updated a real machine with the following repos: finger@pam:~/linux-2.6> zypper lr # | Alias | Name | Enabled | Refresh --+---------------------------+------------------------------------+---------+-------- 1 | openSUSE-13.1-1.14 | openSUSE-13.1-1.14 | Yes | Yes 2 | repo-non-oss | openSUSE-13.1-Non-Oss | Yes | Yes 3 | repo-update | openSUSE-13.1-Update | Yes | Yes 4 | repo-update-non-oss | openSUSE-13.1-Update-Non-Oss | Yes | Yes finger@pam:~/linux-2.6> Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

His trouble is NOT with the regular repos, but with the "VMware Client-side Extensions" by VMware. If you can do without the extensions, uninstall them, update, then "TRY" to install them again, better yet look up VMware on the web, maybe they have a more actual version, and try that. - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Greg -- Greg Freemyer
I did uninstall the vmware client packages and zypper dup worked. Unfortunately it unconfigured my virtual ethernet port. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=845886 Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
