[opensuse-factory] beta 1 to rc1 question
I just did a zypper dup on a 13.1 beta 1 and expected to see this: zypper dup locks up Bug #802525 But nothing. Only 6 packages were updates: zypper dup Warning: You are about to do a distribution upgrade with all enabled repositories. Make sure these repositories are compatible before you continue. I wonder when - and if - you will get a response to your question. I did a dup to my Beta 1 and still have beta 1 showing up when booting and not rc1 so I, too, am looking forward to an answer. Please explain what "showing up for booting" means. I did dup of B1 and it updated 450+ packages (I have minimal text install so it is likely almost all of what had been installed) and I certainly do not have B1 anymore. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

How do you know? Where do you see that it is RC1 - in KinfoCentre or where? Forgot to respond to the first part of your post. When one is booting into 13.1 there is a green progress bar at the bottom of the screen and at the end of this bar, on the right, is shown that one is booting in 13.1 Beta 1 (Bottle). I expect this to show 13.1 RC1 and not Beta 1. Depending on exact point in time when you did installation you may have got near-to-RC1 state. 13.1 repository was getting updates since B1, it was not static. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

OK So, there is no way of knowing if I have the rc or not, apart from downloading and, say attempting an update? Is there any way of knowing if e.g. an update will be posted today at a certain time? What do you see in /etc/default/grub? When I updated (zypper dup) from 12.3 to 13.1 Beta1, this file wasn't updated. Instead there was a /etc/default/grub.rpmnew. Without Plymouth, as here, there is no such bar. However once boot completes, it's obviously not Beta 1. Look on any tty at the Welcome to openSUSE message. Once past Beta into RC, you'll only ever see ##.# <release-name>, the GA release version, which hasn't yet happened with 13.1. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Hi OK, I removed the update repo and then chose it again from the 'Community Repositories' section, both using yast. I've now got updates:) Could it be that not all mirrors (I'm in Spain) get the updates repo, erm, updated?
