[opensuse-factory] Sources DVD torrent
What's hppening? It's the 4th, but only for another hour and a half ;) There appear to be no torrent files for the sources DVDs for GM. The last ones are for RC1, which probably aren't online any more. Is that lack of torrent files an oversight, intentional, or a still-planned? Thanks, Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Volker, you should know that we use German local time ;-). Travel 10 hours back in time ;)

It's Intentional. Sources are available from the ftp repos. Best, Christoph -- Christoph Thiel, Tech. I did not see any torrents in the announcement. I thought we were trying
to promote download via torrent?

But it's not worth to create a DVD, when people usually need only a few rpms from the source tree (a few megabytes, not gigabytes). In fact I don't even mirror the source tree, as less than 0.1% of requests went for the sources... Sure, but even going back those (currently) 11 hours it was already past morning tea time in Germany. How's that for the impatient...? ;)) Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I'm getting confused. There were sources up until RC1, there still are sources for the addons. By your reasoning they shouldn't exist? What's the reason for jigdo being unpopular with SUSE? My own experience with torrent isn't that hot - downloaded 4GB of a 4.3GB DVD, then the download sources all disappeared. No way to fix it up -> 4GB wasted traffic. AFAIR we always released in the afternoon in Germany. Starting in the morning, it just takes some time to get everything out and all pages updated - especially when the day before was a public holiday in Germany ;-) Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform/openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
