[opensuse-factory] Where can I find source for Milestone 7 kernel
All, I want to do some kernel hacking and the kernel that comes with milestone 7 seems to be working well. Trouble is I don't know where to find the source rpm to match that kernel. fyi: I've tried 2 newer factory kernels and they both have major issues on the old laptop I'm testing with. I suspect hal, etc. is in transition, so I just want to stick to milestone 7 for now. Try package "kernel-source". It should match your running kernel. Repository: @System Name: kernel-source Version: 2.6.31-8.2 Arch: noarch Vendor: openSUSE Installed: Yes Status: up-to-date Installed Size: 334.2 MiB Summary: The Linux Kernel Sources Description: Linux kernel sources with many fixes and improvements. This URL points to the latest milestone: http://widehat.opensuse.org/factory-snapshot/repo/oss/ It does not contain the source RPMs but for your purpose you need the kernel-source package from it, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Andreas, That worked fine, but it is confusing having the package and kernel use different numbering. gaf@linux-mdju:~> rpm -qa | grep kernel kernel-default-2.6.31-7.1.i586 gaf@linux-mdju:~> uname -a Linux linux-mdju 2.6.31-rc9-7-default #1 SMP 2009-09-08 18:49:15 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I guess rc9 became final, so the source rpm was renamed without updating the makefile internally to reflect that change. Anyway I have it working now. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction.
