[opensuse-factory] Problems after a zypper dup to factory

Hello all, I zypper dup´d my system to factory this morning. After ~2 hours of updating, I restarted my workstation. I tried to boot Linux 3.1-rc9, but the result was that the desktop-entry in bootloader looked like the failsafe one. I´ve got installed an old 2.6.37.6 too, so I´ve chosen this one. With the result, that I´ve installed KDE 4.6.00 now, instead of my old KDE 4.6.5. As I remembered right, openSUSE 12.1 RC1 should deliver KDE 4.7. right? Also, KDE doesn´t support the 3D-desktop and transparency anymore. Now, I will zypper dup to the 12.1 repositories. Does anyone have the same problem? okay, I tried it, with the result that there were some dependencies which couldn´t be solved... -- -o) Kim Leyendecker /\\ openSUSE Ambassador, openSUSE Wiki Team DE _\_v http://www.opensuse.org - Linux for open minds -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

fixed it by switching to XRender. -- -o) Kim Leyendecker /\\ openSUSE Ambassador, openSUSE Wiki Team DE _\_v http://www.opensuse.org - Linux for open minds -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

2.6.37.6 very likely was the latest kernel before you performed the distribution upgrade. Keeping the previous kernel is a new feature. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

I think so. Did you had the chance to boot the kernel? After booting it, it all looked like the failsafe mode. BTW, is it normal that after such an upgrade KDE is back on version 4.6.00? -- -o) Kim Leyendecker /\\ openSUSE Ambassador, openSUSE Wiki Team DE _\_v http://www.opensuse.org - Linux for open minds -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

No. That sounds like a different issue. The majaority of KDE is at version 4.7.2 Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
