Update 15.2 to 15.3 Virtualbox Fails on Host

Update 15.2 to 15.3 Virtualbox Fails to run
The 15.2 was Virtualbox 6.1.22 - the upgrade is 6.1.20 so it is a downgrade
The 15.2 virtualbox-kmp-default were still there for 6.1.22 and 6.1.18
I do not want to build virtualbox the Oracle way
I'm just in the middle of the upgrade and haven't got that far. What happens if you protect your VMs and delete/reinstall VirtualBox?

I even tried the openSUSE-Leap-15.3-Virtualization repo - all have the same issue but the repo installed 6.1.22 with the same issue
My Dell 7490 only allows secure boot - I think that may be the issue as it says the virtualbox-kmp-default is not signed.
My question was what happens if you uninstall/reinstall? You may be a version or 2 behind, but working and on track for the update when it becomes availalbe.

The update is completed and I see it's the old version, but it runs. I also see the update is available, but I'll leave it for now.
Yes, I am using secure boot. My Virtual box runs fine and I have Windows 10 running right now. Here's what software management shows for the version. It appears it wants to downgrade and I haven't allowed that. My ThinkPad, which I haven't updated to 15.3 yet, also shows 6.1.22_k5.3.18_lp152.75-lp152.2.24.2. 6.1.22_k5.3.18_lp152.75-lp152.2.24.2 (6.1.20_k5.3.18_57-lp153.1.2) On 2021-06-02 5:43 p.m., Larry Len Rainey wrote:

Are you booting with secureboot ?

the 42.3 to 15.0 went smooth as the 15.0 to 15.1 and the 15.1 to 15.2
Something is broken
The guest updated to 15.3 work in 15.2 host with just a bug that pacckagekit says libreoffice needs updating but that fails to install - zypper up says nothing to do

Version 6.1.22 of VirtualBox was submitted to Leap 15.3 before it was sent to Leap 15.2, but with all the effort required for release of GM, it did not make the cut. If the kernel modules are not available at boot time, the vboxdrv service will build them locally; however, the resulting modules will not be signed. That is leading to at least one of the problems. You can turn secure boot off in the BIOS. Larry

I turned off secure boot and it worked - thanks Larry - I installed 6.1.22 from the Virtualization repo - that works fine as the Guess additions for 6.1.22 are in my windows guest.
For KMPs built on OBS, i.e. not a part of SLE, to run in secure boot mode, you need to install openSUSE-signkey-cert package and deploy to the MOK list. Usually the package is taken via base patterns or such, but it may be missing by some reason. Some information was recently added to the release notes. Takashi
