You could try using YaST from the build service as well.

Yes, I'm using it, I dont see any updater applet, like opensuseupdater-kde[gnome] was before

It lists updates, not brand new packages - I mean packages that didnt exist before - such packages often appear eg. in packman repository ain --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Not sure if those are in the build service (http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=openSUSE%3A10.3&p=1&q=opensuse-updater-kde only shows one other home: repository having it), but YaST software management is a GUI to libzypp (which zypper uses).

It lists _package_ updates, yes. I don't think there's a way to list packages that didn't exist in the repository before, though perhaps someone else might know. opensuseupdater-kde is deprecated with newest zypper versions, I have heard that there will be a replacement for opensuseupdater-gnome (from gnome project) in 11.0 but cannot find the message any more.

pity, smart has such capability ;) I dont like smart very much, specially on 64bit system, but yast installer (from buildservice) is now having some troubles with 64bit packages too - when there is for 32bit platform newer package available (eg. foo-0.1.2-1.2.i586 vs. foo-0.1.2-1.1.x86_64), yast suggests update to i586 package, which leads to much unresolvable things... so you have manually look after for what platform every update is. ain --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No, there's no such functionality in zypper. But it's a nice idea, maybe someone will grab it :O) cheers, jano --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
