[opensuse-factory] NIS/NFS clients don't start anymore
Hi, since yesterday, many of my NIS/NFS Clients are hanging in boot process after the zypper dup! Also I make new installation with Kernel 5.14.2 and if I configure NIS and NFS (mount the /home from my Server), the system hangs at the same place. I checked also the /etc/nsswitch.conf like discussed in other threads, but still the system is behaving similar Prozess runs till with [FAILED] Failed to start Postfix Mail Transport Agent # (Remark - I don't installed them or configured them) See 'systemctl status postfix.service' for details # (Remark - not possible so the system is hanging in this loop) [OK] Stopped Name Service Cache Daemon. Starting Name Login Service... [FAILED] Failed to start Login Service. See 'systemctl status systemd-logind.service' for details # (Remark this repeats until reboot) Any Idea?! So I can't give any other info, so the system isn't booting till a shell Ulf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

yes, yes, yes Several threads on this forum in the last two days. but, you do read the list besides when you have a question? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

No, so I'm a normal user and not a full time admin. For sure I've a little bit knowledge, but Linux in the last years change so fast, that I'm not able to follow all threads!!! So I've a 10h working day, manage the local LUG as CEO and have also a big family. But, if I use only standard tools and /etc/xxx.local for my only settings, I expect it will work properly! Especially if I set up a new system - start yast2 nis-client, do the more or less guided installation - why I must read this list completely? OK, I know reading sometimes some realease infos, that the service of some packages ends. But I don't know to many details. Why, for sure I won't use Factory but according openSUSE.org "Tumbleweed Get the newest Linux packages with our rolling release. Fast! Integrated! Stabilized! Tested!" Why not using a Stabilized, Tested Linux with rolling Releases???

OK, meanwhile I don't use the .local files anymore. I only use the Install Image and the YaST tools. If I become no additional information on the tools, I wouldn't expect any danger on a "Stabilized! Tested!" System !!!! Regards Ulf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

So did you check the .rpmnew file, and add/change the relevant entries in the main file? services, protocols, rpc, ethers (and aliases) all need the usrfiles entry! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

There isn't any with a totally new installed system?! # rpmconfigcheck && echo OK OK Nothing to do. Meanwhile the system boots till the grafikmode after I made a # ln -s /etc/nsswitch.conf /usr/etc/nsswitch.conf In the grafik mode I only see a black screen with the moveable mouse curser. So loginscreen dosn't be visible. Ulf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
