[opensuse-factory] knetworkmanager doesn't restart automagically
The KDE desktop is setup to save the desktop when shutting down the system. This works with most KDE applications. They come up again after restarting the system. But this doesn't work with knetworkmanager. I have to restart it manually everytime after a reboot. Any ideas how to fix that ? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Did you use YaST to activate NetworkManager? Gruß Jan -- If she's Snow White, then I must be Grumpy. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes, of course. Once I've restartet knetworkmanager, it works as expected and I can use it to start a UMTS connection. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Okay, I thought about https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=591703 that gave me no NetworkManager after installing M7 on a laptop. I had to activate it and to start it manually after installation and again after the first boot. Finally, it starts automatically. Changing the Autostart entry solved this problem. However there is another problem . If I suspend to disk, networkmanagement is disabled after the resume sometimes. And I have to reboot the system to enable it again -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

As far as I know Factory has switched from knetworkmanager to the plasmoid. For a fresh install the plasmoid should be started automatically. I am not sure if that happens for an updated system, so maybe you must put the plasmoid into the panel yourself. It will happen eventually. But for 11.3 KNetworkManager remains the default. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
