It is needed as it is Google's clone of Office 2007+ default font, which is rather important for Office compatibility. Feel free to request the inclusion of the font into tumbleweed using the build service, or its mailing list, its owner is usually happy to do so. It isn't really clear to me if it should be in Libreoffice:Factory/openSUSE_Tumbleweed or Tumbleweed itself and I don't even know where to begin with requesting anything.

I've just temporarily enabled the Factory-OSS repo and installed the font.

Yes, I was using that before. I've switched to the other repo explicitly because I wanted to see if a regression introduced about two years ago was finally fixed (no, it was not).

Perhaps you should use that instead?

At the moment the missing font (which is still a packaging error IMHO) is the only thing that doesn't seem to work and it was an easy enough fix.
