Up to now I did not realize that Leap 42.2 still contains old python-ldap 2.4.21. Any chance to get 2.4.27 in? Not sure whether it was correct to submit this request from openSUSE:Factory: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/435947 Ciao, Michael.

Not sure whether it was correct to submit this request from openSUSE:Factory:
Considering we just released RC and we only want bug fixes, you need to provide a bigger rationale than a higher version number to make this update realistic. What advantage does the new version bring compared to what we have? What bugs does it fix? What's the risk of updating? What's the risk of NOT updating? The .changelog of this package is useless in answering any of those questions, as it only claims 'updated to new version'. Cheers, Dominique

Bug fixes and features: http://python-ldap.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/python-ldap/python-ldap/CHANGES?content-type=text%2Fplain&revision=HEAD
What bugs does it fix?
See above. Most notably a seg fault if the application is a little ill-programmed.
What's the risk of updating?
None. Seriously.
What's the risk of NOT updating?
Well...not a high risk. But a rather big inconvience. BTW: I'd also like to see this appear in SLES...so I don't have to use pip install on my customers' servers... Ciao, Michael.

Are the Update repos for 42.2 active? I am trying to submit a version bump from 5.1.4 to 5.1.6 for VirtualBox the way I usually do; however, https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:lwfinger:branches:openSUSE:Leap... shows that the build is blocked by a large number of packages. Is this just due to having a lot of prerequisites, or have I done something wrong? The :Update repo at this point is a place holder - the distribution itself can still take fixes without issues (that shall not mean every version update can just be sent: version changes need to be motivated and you should not be surprised if the release managers want to know more about the risks involved). As :Update is built against the base distro and the base distro still gets updates and rebuilds, it is clear that also branches building agains :Update end up in blocked state. There is nothing really new here. Chhers, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Dominique, Thanks for the explanation. As Oracle just released a new version today that addresses 7 different CVE vulnerability issues, I do not think the risk/reward issue will be too difficult.
