[opensuse-factory] Misleading zypper error message
Hello, A recent zypper dup removed the gpg2 package from my system (I have no idea why). When I later tried to update again I ended up with the following error: Checking whether to refresh metadata for factory Downloading: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/content * Downloading [100%] Downloading: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/media.1... * Downloading [100%] Refreshing 'factory' Downloading: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/content * Downloading [100%] Downloading: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/media.1... * Downloading [100%] Downloading: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/media.1... * Downloading [100%] Downloading: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/content... * Downloading [100%] Downloading: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/content... * Downloading [100%] Repository 'factory' is invalid. Skipping repository 'factory' because of the above error. The error message isn't really helpful. Should I open a bug requesting a less misleading error message like "gpg not found - couldn't verify key"? ciao Joerg -- Joerg Mayer <jmayer@loplof.de> We are stuck with technology when what we really want is just stuff that works. I'd say, that depends. If rpm -V zypper libzypp is silent, then it's a bug in the package. But if the gpg2 is a missing dependency, then it's your fault / usual factory problem. BTW: x86_64 still shows these problems as gpg2 is having issues - most likely with the openldap update.
