[opensuse-factory] 11.3 and Acer Aspire One
Hi, I try install new opensuse 11.3 and after installation kernel freeze during loading (after probing some pci slots). Does anyone see such behavior? Do you have idea how to fix it? It happen also when I boot from DVD and try to start rescue system. If safe mode starts ok, try safe mode again an take off the extra options one at a time till you find the options that resolves the problem. Then boot with those options as default. Hi, thanks for response. If save mode means failsafe boot entry, then I tried it and it allows me to see place where kernel struck. If there is another option how to do save mode options then I try it. ( I also plan to reinstall system and add debug kernel to see more details, I just want to know if other people also have such issue ) Josef -- Josef Reidinger YaST team maintainer of perl-Bootloader and parts of webyast -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I saw something similar on my Aspire One with 11.3 when I installed milestone 5 or 6 (or maybe it was 7) - I put it down to finger trouble (user error) though as it now seems to work perfectly. I'm using the machine extensively after a "zypper dup" to Gold and it's just great. I don't think I blacklisted any modules at any point, but I may have done - I will check tonight and update you (machine is at home, I am at work). Currently I'm using a spare HD with only 11.3 installed, at the weekend I want to put the original HD back in and do a fresh install of 11.3 from scratch (probably leaving XP on for dual boot). I may encounter the problem that you describe... PS - I love the sleeping Tux animation for hibernation! -- Cheers Richard (MQ) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

As I recall, that is a Netbook. If so, does it have a BCM4312? In that case, try booting with the option "brokenmodules=ssb". Larry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
