If safe mode starts ok, try safe mode again an take off the extra options one at a time till you find the options that resolves the problem. Then boot with those options as default. Yes, I saw something similar on my Aspire One with 11.3 when I installed milestone 5 or 6 (or maybe it was 7) - I put it down to finger trouble (user error) though as it now seems to work perfectly. I'm using the machine extensively after a "zypper dup" to Gold and it's just great. I don't think I blacklisted any modules at any point, but I may have done - I will check tonight and update you (machine is at home, I am at work). Currently I'm using a spare HD with only 11.3 installed, at the weekend I want to put the original HD back in and do a fresh install of 11.3 from scratch (probably leaving XP on for dual boot). I may encounter the problem that you describe... As I recall, that is a Netbook. If so, does it have a BCM4312? In that case, try booting with the option "brokenmodules=ssb".
