Window positions KDE/Plasma and TW
LS, Another issue with KDE/Plasma under TW since a recent update. Many windows are now starting in the center of the screen, instead of prior positions. Then again, some are still starting at the prior position on the display. This is rather annoying since I have to reposition windows every time when starting an utility or program. So, either many utilities and programs have lost the code to position their starting window at the prior positions, or KDE/Plasma has a bug. Anyone also? Regards, Frans.

you have set specific locations using the dropdown -> more actions -> configure special window settings all mine "that I have set" remember their designated positions. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc What sort of day was it? No, I did not. Using System Setting -> Window Behavior -> Advanced, there is an option "Allow apps to remember the positions of their own windows". It used to work before, now for many apps not anymore. --- Frans.

you didn't notice that that option is no longer there? with that option disappearing, I don't believe I would expect it to still work as before, although I like the option. apparently whoever provided it is no longer interested, or it became too difficult/impossible to continue. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc What sort of day was it? The option is still visible and still works for some programs like Dolphin, Ksysguard and some others. But Konsole, Thunderbird, Firefox etc are not respecting the prior settings. So, if it is visible it normally means that it is supported. I can't imaging that all other programs suddenly decided an mass that they would not support this option anymore. To avoid cluttering, the only thing I can do now is set select the option of the top-left-corner setting in the same settings pane --- Frans.

where is it visible? there is no option system settings -> window behavior -> advanced

agreed, but it is no longer available. or your Tw is not up-2-date.

ok, it is not system settings -> window behavior it is system settings -> window management -> window behavior and not a system settings problem but the particular applications no longer supporting that setting. your announce should be directed at the application developers not supporting a previous act. not yast and not plasma/kde. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet oftc What sort of day was it?
