[opensuse-factory] Can't install open-vm-tools
Host: openSUSE 11.0, 64 bit VMWare Server 1.09 Guest: Milestone 5, 64 bit Open-vm-tools did not get installed automagically (if I remember it right, it should) When I try to install it I get this: Problem: nothing provides ksym(debug:module_layout) = 1083fd14 needed by vmware-guest-kmp-debug-2009.05.22_2.6.30.2_1-1.15.x86_64 Solution 1: do not ask to install a solvable providing open-vm-tools Choose the above solution using '1' or cancel using 'c' [1/c] (c): Vahis -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

There are differents things that sound 'weird': - It tries to get the kmp-debug, which would be on top of the debug kernel. That does not make sense in normal work (what kernel are you running? uname -a) - It tries to get a rather old version. It might be that the checkin of the 2009.07.22 release was slightly after M5. I'd suggest you to try to install open-vm-tools from the Factory repository directly. This should hopefully solve your issue. An interesting 'test' could also be to make a net-install. This should automatically install the kmp and then pull in the tools. ok, that shows clearly that the package requested would not fit. You're running 2.6.31, the kmp above was for 2.6.30.2. They just don't match. most likely the status of the snapshot disk really just did not fit (otherwise I don't know what could have happened). In the Factory repo you should be able to find a kernel and fitting kmp's together in sync. I started a network installation. The tools were at least on the list to be installed... Vahis -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
