Open-vm-tools did not get installed automagically (if I remember it right, it should) When I try to install it I get this:
Problem: nothing provides ksym(debug:module_layout) = 1083fd14 needed by vmware-guest-kmp-debug-2009.05.22_2.6.30.2_1-1.15.x86_64 Solution 1: do not ask to install a solvable providing open-vm-tools
There are differents things that sound 'weird': - It tries to get the kmp-debug, which would be on top of the debug kernel. That does not make sense in normal work (what kernel are you running? uname -a)
2.6.31-rc4-1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-07-29 16:01:26 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
- It tries to get a rather old version. It might be that the checkin of the 2009.07.22 release was slightly after M5. I'd suggest you to try to install open-vm-tools from the Factory repository directly. This should hopefully solve your issue.
An interesting 'test' could also be to make a net-install. This should automatically install the kmp and then pull in the tools.
