Until these and the issues I mentioned are sorted out, I'm against submitting any further KDE3 packages. Therefore, I declined those that are currently open (for the reasons mentioned).
How would you like this sorted out? For example, sim-im is mainatained here: http://svn.berlios.de/wsvn/sim-im
And not in Trinity. I want you to send a mail to this very list evaluating the value of the package in distribution
Regarding sim-im or koffice? Sim-im has quite large community and a Wikipedia page in six or seven languages. Anyway I was just renaming and updating the existing package sim. I could submit to it but I followed our new convention to use kde3- prefix.
and what are the advantages of having kde3-koffice vs. using koffice2 in kde3. Because the downsides are obvious: for example there is no upstream community that won't give a shrug if a user used koffice1.
For those who use kde3 the advantage is the best integration with the desktop. No other office suite is as closely integrated with kde3 as kde3-koffice, although libreoffice provides some basic integration. The integration manifests in similar styles, fonts, country and other settings, as the whole desktop uses, as well as provided kparts modules which allow integration with browser and embeeding. The overall inteface style and controls layout is also common. Also note that for some tasks libreoffice is exceptionally slow. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
