thanks : the full read-out is :
"error: open database /etc/postfix/relay.db: Invalid argument"
- what is next step please Carlos ? Run as "root":
postmap /etc/postfix/relay
or, again as "root":
config.postfix
(hoping it still exists... - this had been cared for by SuSEconfig ages ago ;) ) ..............
thanks Manfred , on my TW system these commands did not seem to work Strange, here is what I just ran on my TW system (inside a root console):
[root@saturn (0) ~]# postmap /etc/postfix/relay [root@saturn (0) ~]# config.postfix Reading /etc/sysconfig and updating the system... [root@saturn (0) ~]# postfix reload postfix/postfix-script: refreshing the Postfix mail system
So, all commands do work for me!
. . . am now getting :
" Konsole output error: open database /etc/postfix/relay.db: Invalid argument" How do you start your "root" console? If there is no such menu item, please start a _normal_ user console (such as xterm, gnome-terminal, konsole, ...) and then elevate to become the super-user "root" by typing the following command:
su -
Here you have to enter the password of the super-user "root". Once you get a root-prompt you can check if it's really a root-prompt:
id
Here you should see something like
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)
If that's the case, you can simply enter the commands I initially wrote:
postmap /etc/postfix/relay postfix reload # I didn't include this one initialy, it just reloads/restarts postfix
or
config.postfix
thus , as mr jan says, i have to set up relay.db correctly . . . how to do this please ? Read and follow the stuff above.
