All meeting minutes can be found here: https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/ReleaseEngineering-meeting ## Participants guillaumeg, dleuenberger, lkocman, skriesch, maxlin, dirk !!! Please be aware that this meeting is hosted on https://meet.opensuse.org/ReleaseEngineeringMeeting ## Leap Leap 15.3 build 41.2 is finally published was originally stuck on OBS -
ftp-stage publishing issue which was fixed by Adrian. There are stills some errors during runtime but data seems to be synced just fine https://susepaste.org/82972337
Some more discussion about external Leap (sub)project maintainers. :ARM subproject was created. I'll need to focus on seamless migration and CtLG implementation for remaining packages in Beta timeframe (Feb 17th is the expected Beta). I'd like to also make sure that we have some implementation of maintenance setup by Beta (doesn't have to be perfect) but something that maintenance team can already test. I recall that there was still some pending work on patchinfo. Closing the Leap Gap (19 features are still in progress) We might have today a visitor who is trying to build Debian on mips64el in OBS "Re: Build a complete distribution using OBS" on factory@ ## openSUSE Tumbleweed * RPM 4.16 in Staging:A, together with brp-check-suse. * All build issues resolved * RPM segfaults in the upgrade test, when upgrading one of the kde packages (boo#1179416) * Ruby 3.0 Has been accepted to Factory, rubygems are currently provided for 2.7 and 3.0; 'default' ruby version is still 2.7, as YaST does not yet work with Ruby 3.0 * Autoconf 2.70: some backwards incompatible changes, and implicitly starts gtkdocize in case configure.ac contains GTK_DOC_CHECK; Especially for ring0 packages, this is painful, as we cannot add gtk- doc dependenices there. Those packages need to GTKDOCIZE=true before running autoreconf (most don't need to run autoreconf, unless they patch configure - upstream your patches!) * Active work on rpmlint 2.0 is ongoing; integration work is messy, due to its huge dep chain * Multiple Python 3 interpreters should be supported. Currently, integration of 3.6 parallel to the existing 3.8 is in progress. Future should add 3.9 as well lkocman: python39 interpreter landed in Leap in late December ## Richard (Kubic/TW MicroOS) Not available ## Max * Submitted updated package in 15.2:Update to Backports:SLE-15-SP3, this will keep happen once new maint. update released to 15.2:Update, created a script to check packagelist though * project-installcheck for Backports is up, the result is located at openSUSE:Backport:SLE-15-SP3:Staging/dashboard * Staging project for Backports:SLE-15-SP3 is up (Adi based) https://build.opensuse.org/staging_workflows/openSUSE:Backports:SLE-15-SP3 , I wrote down a document for that https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/BackportsStagingProject * staging bot and staging-installcheck was deployed to botmaster lkocman: Thank you Max! * Seems rpmlint-backports hasn't refuse opencv3 build on !x86_64 Update on new package requests and redirection by default to Backports. The official request to autobuild team is done, we might want to look for some workarounds. Some maintenance updates were not picked up by Maintenance team because of missing maintainer. Lubos will have a look if some of these can be tracked as feature requests, as we have a process for this (set particular label in jira). For maintenance requests I'll have to contact RM and probably maintenance TPM. ## Guillaume - Arm Tumbleweed: * blocked by a bug on the installer related to kernel 5.10 update: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1180408 Dirk added an overlay to workaround the problem: https://build.opensuse.org/package/rdiff/openSUSE:Factory:ARM/linuxrc?linkrev=base&rev=2 Leap 15.3 ARM: * Armv7: Project setup to do. OBS projected created but setup is broken: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/openSUSE:Leap:15.3:ARM RPi 400 is still a WIP. We already have patches for u-boot, waiting for internal review:https://github.com/openSUSE/u-boot/pull/14 I see that RPi feature (OPENSUSE-13) to update firmware in SLE is ready to release, so we should be all set on this side. WSL: WIP to have WSL on aarch64 on https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:Guillaume_G:WSL The goal is to haveWSL-DistroLauncher package built for aarch64. Lubos: no update either ## Michel ppc64le no update ## Sarah - s390x * Kernel Panic between Christmas and New Year: fixed with expanding disk and memory * First openSUSE Tumbleweed release for s390x published yesterday (5th January 2021) * problems with packaging because OBS does not show same errors in the home repository for s390x as in the zSystems repository (example: the package ntp) https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/openSUSE:Factory:zSystems/... starts to look on openSUSE Leap 15.3 lkocman: Please have a look at Max's etherpad about staging projects on Backports 15.3 ## Doug Not available lkocman: Some more email discussions about CentOS situation and how to react to it. ## Dirk * Added mporaryry Linuxrc Overlay for unblocking 5.10 Kernel Update In Factory:ARM * Worked on various build failures and package updates Finisheded rewording of Distribution Architecture Policy and posted update (was: Tier1 Policy): https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:OpenSUSE_Distribution_Architectures_Policy Next step: make the primary architecture change for TW On this topic: the change to structure of software-o-o has happened. All install images are now in tab Install images. ARMv7 doesn't have install image iso so that's out of scope for the change. Various Tumbleweed package updates: Reviewed https://github.com/openSUSE/software-o-o/pull/908 ## Gerald Not present ## Wolfgang (Package Hub) Not present: * Backports synced to CDN so PackageHub can be activated with SUSEConnect and is ready for testing * KDE Plasma 5 is currently missing, Antonio is helping on that * Waiting for some submit requests to SLE to be accepted - https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/853521 (perl-Test-Warnings) - https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/853595 (perl-YAML) - https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/854765 (serd) - https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/854984 (python-Markdown) - https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/854985 (lv2) - https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/854986 (lilv) Lubos will request prioritization of these requests. Let's make sure it's done before Christmas or until end of the year in worst case. Max would like to setup Minimal staging for Backports over the Christmas break. ## Adrian - CtLG Not present
