Some useful information for tracking this down would be printed by:
rpm -vv -qi aaa_base
If no package is installed (according to rpm), there is also no aaa_base to be shown ;-)
Yup, but the "-vv" makes rpm print some useful diagnostic output: ufdio: 1 reads, 19451 total bytes in 0.000029 secs D: loading keyring from pubkeys in /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/pubkeys/*.key D: couldn't find any keys in /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/pubkeys/*.key D: loading keyring from rpmdb D: opening db environment /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm cdb:private:0x201 D: opening db index /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Packages 0x400 mode=0x0 D: locked db index /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Packages D: opening db index /usr/lib/sysimage/rpm/Name nofsync:0x400 mode=0x0 D: read h# 93 ... There has to be a query which does a database access and rpm -vv -qi imprettysurethispackagedoesnotexist would work the same way.
