don't forget many open bugs are for previous distros. This should be cleaned up, because most of them wont ever be fixed. If the bug is still present in last alpha, it should be moved and if not closed as fixed on more recent distro

Yes, this is not so hard. The reporters get a mail, whenever somebody writes something to their bug(s). So if there is asked if the bug still persists, or is present, and time is given to react, the bug can be closed after negative, or no response in the given time.
