Update during installation doesn't wast time, if you add the update repo ontime. After you selected what you wanted to install, and dependancies have been sorted out, the installer is wise enough to select the updated packages directly. And they will get installed anyway.
During the initial installation with updates I have to sit looking at the screen, I can not use the computer. I can not be tapping at LO doing work, so that's wasted time. As I don't do installs the first month after release, they may be at least half a gigabyte of updates to wait for.
