Hi,
I have noticed that the Factory-update module in YaST doesn't work any more. It tells me that it's invalid to update from 11.2 Milestone 3 to Non-OSS Addons if I deactivate the non-OSS repo, it comes with a similar bogus message. I liked that module as a GUI variant of doing zypper dup, esp. because I could select packages that I want to keep or update to different versions (if multiple are available in the repo collection). Going into Software Installation and selecting to update all packages that have a newer version available works most of the time, but isn't a good replacement, and zypper dup isn't as flexible in terms of package selection.
Is there any way to make the Factory-update module in YaST not detect bogus version info and block any further work with it? Is the module dead? Is there a good alternative that provides both the package replacement functionality etc. that zypper dup has and the flexibility of the package interface of YaST?

I support this. I can upgrade all ppkgs, but: It is very inconvenient not to be able to upgrade to a certain state, else than fresh install, certainly if m2's k3b is not able to burn the downloaded netinstall iso. This way everything stops. If the ways to contribute by testing, and reporting bugs, are blocked, because one cannot upgrade, one looses interesse, because there are many things to be done: Waitng is the only thing i do not have time for.
I've submitted a feature request http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=520134 which I think might make updating a little easier, have a look and add to it.
