It is of course dependent on the particular administrator which extended features of wicked - or networkd - are considered important and which into their calculation of what consitutes an "overall improvement". If wicked can make a sandwich, that would be of no value to me, but on the other hand, networkd not requiring three processes running in the background for static address setups (like wicked does) is, which means it sticks out.
