As in subject. This option shows a lot of packages! How do i know they can be removed without negative consequenses?
Which packages and where? How do you know they are not necessary? That is exactly my question. I will copy the list after i rebooted, installed all new packages and Kernel.
Personally i do not quite understand the name: 'unneeded packages', especially when i look at the list: kernel-firmware, skype, make, 7zip, etc. But i think those are packages i installed myself, and are not 'part' of the standard install.

I remember the wish of many people, myself included, that wanted to know which packages just, 'hang around' in the system, and are of no use than just cluttering space. At that time, there were also many dep-solver problems, called 'dependency hell', a night mare to anybody that wanted to upgrade but had like 'alien' packages installed, from outside the distro repos. This has absolutely been approved for about 90-95%, maybe even more, as when upgrading all packages, just now, only *one* dep had to be solved by my choice. But this time install was still young, and not far from original install, so i might be overly enthusiast. So, i might conclude they are safe to remove, unless i want to use them myself, but they are not from vital importance to keep the system running. -- Have a nice day, Oddball.
